Will DMV suspend or revoke my license?
The DMV may suspend or revoke your license (driving privilege) for many reasons. If you have a commercial license (class A or B) they may restrict you to a class C license based on information regarding a medical or mental condition. If you have or are applying for a special certificate to drive a School Bus, Ambulance or other vehicle requiring a Special Certificate they can revoke, suspend or refuse to issue a certificate for a variety of reasons. Some actions are mandatory and do not allow for a hearing. All others allow you to request a Driver Safety administrative hearing, which is usually conducted at a Driver Safety office in your area or can be conducted on the phone. This information is intended to alert you to your rights and prepare you for your hearing.
If you have received notice that an action is being taken against your driving privilege or certificate or that DMV is refusing to issue a Special Certificate You must request a hearing within 10 days of receiving personal service or 14 days from the date the notice is mailed. If you do not make a timely request your right to a hearing will be lost and you cannot dispute the dmv action. Unless you agree with the DMV action you should request a hearing since you have nothing to lose by doing so.
